Car Hire Volos Airport

Volus Airport, otherwise known as Nea Anchialos Airport, is a very small military airport and is situated near the sea port of Volos (approx.30km) on the Aegean coast of mainland Greece.  During the summer months weekly charter flights use this airport from several European destinations.

As the airport is not really a commercial airport  there are no regular bus connections from the airport to Volos or Pelio but taxis and car hire is readily available at the airport.  When you arrive at the Airport which is very small just step outside the luggage collection area and one of our representatives will be waiting to meet you and take you to your Car which will be waiting just a few yards away in the Car Hire Volos Airport parking area.

Small & simple Volos Airport Car Hire will be a great choice!

Volos Airport Information

Volos is a beautiful coastal port city which is located at the centre of the Greek mainland. The sea front is a promenade of open air cafes and restaurants all looking out at the boats moored up.   It is the capital of the Magnesia prefecture.  The railway station in Volos provides direct links, via Larisa.to the rest of Greece.  Volvos has a daily link to Athens (326km) and twice daily to Thessaloniki (215km).  Volos is positioned at the foot of Mt Pelion on the Pagasitic gulf and is an excellent base for exploring the wooded slopes and green valleys which surround it.

During the winter months skiing is available on the mountains.  If taking your Car Rental Volos to the mountains be sure to hire a suitable 4 x 4 vehicle as the roads are very steep. Volos is a lively town and the waterfront is an ideal spot for a stroll. The coastal avenue is lined with restaurants, cafes and pastry shops.  Friday and Saturday nights are especially busy in this area and surrounding streets are also of interest and bustle with life.

The harbour is busy and a large amount of commercial and passenger traffic leave from the harbour for the Sporades, Mediterranean, Syris and other Middle Eastern cities.  A ferry and hydrofoil called the Flying Dolphin  operates from the nearby island of Skiathos and there is also a ferry service to Skopelos and Alonissos.  The Archaeological Museum and the Municipal Gallery are well worth a visit and Anavros beach, an open municipal strand, is perfect for swimming during the summer months.
