If driving from the city centre of Helsinki, drive north along Tuusula Road (Highway 45) and follow the signs for the airport.  From the west and the east drive on Kehâ III (Highway E18 or Highway 50) and follow signs for the airport. Indoor car parks are available close to both terminals.  Short-term, business and long-term parking is also available. Taxis and car hire is readily available at the airport. A bus service operates to Helsinki city centre and the journey takes approx.45 minutes.  A bus also runs to Tikkurila train station in Vantaa from which one can take a quick journey to Helsinki.

There is a good selection of cafés and restaurants situated in both the Arrival and Departure Halls    A fast food restaurant is open 24 hours.  Facilities at the airport include conference services, internet access, currency exchange, banks, and a pharmacy.  There are also amenities for disabled travellers.  Numerous boutiques and duty free shops can be found at the airport. The Hilton Helsinki Vantaa Airport hotel can be reached directly from the terminal via a covered walkway. 

Many of Finland’s best tourist attractions are to be found in nearby Helsinki but Vantaa does have plenty to offer the tourist.  The Heureka Science Centre is located close to the Tikkurila railway station.  Near the city centre is Vantaa’s Helsinki pavil, a large pavilion which hosts many live events.  Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland and situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland by the Baltic Sea.  It is a modern cosmopolitan city of culture and walking tours of the city centre are very popular and an ideal way to learn more about the history of Helsinki.
