Any Airport Car Rental Thailand allows you to explore areas of interest such as the hill tribes of the north, the central areas of historic Thailand and the eastern beaches and islands.
Thailand has the advantage of being a safe yet exotic location at the same time. Once you are there you will find it extremely hard to leave, especially if you have to drag yourself out of the blue and bath warm waters which surround the coastline. That said most westerners will get a stomach upset when they arrive as they try to adjust to the new diet, so take some medication for this.
Some recommended places to visit are the historical (and world heritage UNESCO) site of Ayutthaya, Pattaya which is popular with tourists from all over the world and the city of Surat Thani from which you can go to the islands of Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Samui. Ko Pha Ngan is famous all over the world for having wild and hedonistic full moon parties – this is either your scene or it’s not! Thailand has many incredible national parks which must be seen to be believed. There is the stunning Ang Thong National Marine Park and Ko Phi Phi, the surreally beautiful island where The Beach was filmed. If you want to avoid bad traffic in Thailand stay away from Bangkok and places like Pattaya, but driving in Thailand will no doubt be an exhilarating experience.
Like a scintillating jewel that flashes myriads of colours, Thailand sparkles with a special magic unlike any other country of the Orient. Perhaps it is because this country, alone in South-east Asia, has never been a European colony and has its traditions diluted by Western influences; even the world Thai means “free”.
Perhaps it is because Thailand’s culture – the gilded temples and devotion to the Buddhist religion, the houses on stilts, the sinuous classical dances, the adulation of the royal family – goes hand in hand with a welcome to the West. But there is another, less-attractive face of Thailand.
