Car Hire Bodo Airport

Bodo is the second largest city in northern Norway and the largest within a 400 mile radius so it makes for a great place to base yourself to discover the region. With a lot of distance to cover, a hire car is essential if you’re not to be stuck in Bodo itself and depending on the time of year your car hire needs when you arrive at Bodo Airport could be very different. In winter a four wheel drive car will be essential whilst on clear warm summer days you’ll just love driving around in a convertible car. Bodo Airport Guide

Bodo Airport is a major airport in the north of Norway serving 1.75m passengers a year, making it one of Norway’s busiest. Apart from one seasonal holiday flight to the Canaries, all flights are domestic with several routes to Oslo making a connection with the UK and the rest of Europe easy and cheap. The airport is right on the edge of the city so finding your way to your accommodation should be quick and simple.

One of the highlights of a visit to Bodo is the Norwegian Aviation Museum which, as well as having plenty of aircraft on display, has very interesting exhibitions on the Cold War and the Second World War.
The peninsula of Kjerringoy is Bodo’s most beautiful sight where you’ll find a 19th century style trading post set up to show tourists what life was like 200 years ago.

You can take a boat from Bodo out to Landegode where only fifty people live on a beautiful mountainous island fringed with pretty beaches whilst nearby is Saltstraumen, Europe’s strongest maelstrom which interestingly has great opportunities for fishing.
