Dublin Airport Information


Dublin Airport is the busiest airport in Ireland and is approx. 10km north of Dublin City.   Dublin Airport has one terminal and is easily accessible from the M50 and M1 motorways.  The airport is the headquarters of Aer Lingus and the no-frills airline Ryanair.  From Dublin city centre take the M50 northbound and exit on to the M1 northbound.  The airport is well signposted. Dublin Airport has both short-term and long-term car parking spaces offering in excess of 18,000 spaces.  Short-term parking is situated directly opposite the terminal building.  Long-term parking is located on the eastern perimeter and there is a 24-hour shuttle bus service to the terminal.  This latter car park is accessed directly from the motorway.

Dublin Bus operate frequent local services and depart from the main Arrivals road directly outside the terminal.  These include the Airlink express bus which operates to Dublin’s rail stations and main bus station.  Bus 747 operates to O’Connell Street, the central bus station and Parnell Square West.  Bus 748 provides a service to Heuston and Connolly rail stations and the central bus station.  There is no direct rail link from the airport to the city centre.  Cheap car hire and taxis are readily available at the airport.

Coach services operate from the airport’s coach park to many destinations in Ireland.  This coach park is situated on the far side of the main car park building. Facilities in the airport include a bank, post office, Bureau de Change, ATMs, pharmacy, free nursery and baby changing facilities and conference and business services for the business traveller. The airport has over 25 shops and the airside shopping area can be found in the departures lounge.  There is also a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars.

The Clarion Dublin Airport hotel and Radisson SAS Dublin Airport Hotel are both situated within the airport area.  A number of other hotels are located nearby and many offer free parking and a shuttle bus service to the terminal.

Dublin city has much to offer the tourist and the many attractions include Trinity College, Dublin Castle, which is located in the centre of the historic Dublin, and Phoenix Park, which is the largest urban enclosed park in Europe.  The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) is the rail line running along the coast of Dublin, from Malahide and Howth southwards as far as Greystones, Co.Wicklow and is a cheap and easy way to explore the south coast.
