Bundaberg Airport Guide

Bundaberg Airport is only three miles from the centre of Bundaberg from where you’ll have the choice of the city or the beach at Bargara, a coastal suburb of Bundaberg. Qantas fly into Bundaberg from Brisbane whilst Seair Pacific operates a flight out to Lady Elliot Island. Travellers from Europe and the UK can get to Brisbane via a stopover in Dubai then flying on from Brisbane to Bundaberg.

The area around Bundaberg is crammed with sugar cane plantations and a great way to spend a day is to take one of the many trains that used to ferry the cane to the processing plants and which now offer tourist trips through the cane fields. The region is also known for its ginger production and there’s a ginger beer factory too which often gives off a heady aroma. You can take tours of the rum distilleries that rely on the sugar or the ginger beer factory, sampling their wares before buying if the fancy takes you.

Bargara, now swallowed up as a suburb of Bundaberg is the closest beach resort and it’s well worth spending a day there, relaxing and soaking up the sun.
