Washington Dulles International airport is situated in Chantilly, VA,  approx.40km west of the central business district area of Washington D.C., united States.  The airport has one terminal and serves the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  The airport is located 42km west of Washington.  Dulles airport is accessible via the Dulles Access Road – State Road 267, and also State Route 28.  The Dulles Access Highway is restricted to airport use only.

The Washington Flyer bus operates from the airport and connects to the West Falls Church Orange Line Metrorail station.  This transfer bus runs every 30 minutes 05.45 to 22.15 weekdays and 07.45 to 22.15 weekends.  The journey time is approx.25 minutes.  The Washington Metrorail is an efficient and economical way of travelling around DC.  The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority bus service runs every hour to L’Enfant Plaza metro station and departs from the Arrivals level Door 4.  The journey time takes about 50 minutes.

There is also a Metrobus express service between downtown Washington DC and the airport, along the Dulles Corridor. A national coach service provides a service from the airport to several locations in Virginia. Taxis and car hire is readily accessible at the airport.

Facilities at the airport include a Bureau de Change, ATMs, internet kiosks and business centres.  Disabled facilities are also available.  Eating facilities include a wide range of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlours, cafes and fast food outlets.  There is a wide variety of retail outlets in the terminal and duty free shopping is available in the departure lounge.

The Washington Dulles Airport Marriott is located at the airport and has a fully equipped business centre.  Numerous other hotels are situated nearby and many offer a free shuttle bus service to the terminal.  Washington is the capital of the United States and popular tourist attractions include the White House, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Lincoln Memorial.
