Perigueux Airport Guide

Perigueux Airport is a tiny regional airport with only a single route to and from Paris Orly. The airport is in the town of Bassillac and just over four miles from Perigueux. Travellers from anywhere other than Paris will need to connect at Paris Orly and from the UK there are flights departing from Southampton and London City airports.

Perigueux has a lot of great architecture gained through its history stretching back over two millennia. There are the excavated remains of the Roman Arena as well as the renaissance buildings of the old town. Much of the historical artefacts now appear in the Vesunna Museum in the city whilst the city’s art museum has many paintings from famous artists of scenes around and in the city.

Outside Perigueux, the limestone hills are pock marked with many caves, some of which are open to the general public whilst others are for experienced speleologists only. Some of the caves contain large roosts of bats which make for a breath-taking display at dusk when they leave for their night time hunting.
