Nassau Airport Guide

Nassau Airport is actually called Lynden Pindling International Airport, named after the first prime minister of the Bahamas. Just over a year ago, the airport opened three new terminals, two to deal with US visitors and one for visitors from other countries. Only a couple of miles from Nassau itself, the airport is easily accessed from all of the island of New Providence whilst boats, planes or bridges get you from the other islands.

British Airways is the only European airline to fly direct to Nassau from Europe with a daily flight from Heathrow. Travellers from continental Europe need to first connect to London or fly into a major North American airport before continuing the flight to Nassau.

If you’re going to find your way to the airport by sat-nav you may need the GPS coordinates of 25°02'20?N 077°27'58?W although the island is small enough that you won’t get lost.

New Providence isn’t one of the more attractive islands, especially with the vast sprawl of Nassau covering much of it. It’s a place to find out about the history of the islands; from the old colonial fort and town to the pirates that used to rule the islands. Whilst a hire car is a great way to get around, you may want to begin with a bus tour so you can discover the favourite bits you want to return to later.
