Car Hire Evenes Airport

The area around Evenes is full of Second World War history and with a hire car you can play the imaginary spy looking down onto Bogen Bay where many German battleships lay at anchor. Whilst Evenes is nice enough, there’s a whole lot more to see and do if you have the foresight to pre-book a hire car from Harstad/Narvik Airport and collect it upon arrival. For a start you’ll have a fast and comfortable way to get to your accommodation for your stay in Evenes and have the use of your Harstad/Narvik Airport hire car for the duration of your holiday.

Evenes Airport Guide

Evenes Airport is actually called Harstad/Narvik Airport or a combination of all three names. It’s located next to the town boundary of Evenes but serves the municipalities of Narvik and Harstad too.

Apart from a handful of seasonal flights to Mediterranean holiday destinations, all the flights are domestic but with the benefit of direct flights to Oslo Torp and Gardermoen. This means that it’s quick and cheap to hop over to Oslo from the UK, often on a budget flight with Ryanair before travelling on to Evenes.

Harstad, Narvik and Evenes are peaceful little towns set in a beautiful and dramatic landscape. Evenes is best known for its church but, although founded in 1250, the current building is only a little over 200 years old. Historically, the area is known for the German navy base that during the war held such famous ships as the Tirpitz and the Scharnhorst. It’s easy to get to see where the ships lay at anchor by heading up onto the ridge above Bogen Bay. From there it’s not too hard to imagine the scene that greeted the local resistance, watching the fleet and reporting back to the Allies.
