Barbados is the most easterly of the Caribbean islands and has a coastline with the Atlantic Ocean. The east coast has the world famous crane beach where pink sands are nestled between two fantastic cliff tops.

Then there is also Bathsheba where the awesome waves have made it a stop on the world surf tour. Look out for local favourite Mark Holder. Windsurfing is also excellent in Barbados; Silver Sands has amazing wind and miles of sea to surf in. On the north side of the island is the animal flower cave, worth visiting to see the sea anemones which live in a cave under the rocks.

The west coast is the equivalent of Barbados’ Gold Coast and many of the rich and famous stay here and enjoy the soothing waters of the Caribbean Sea. One of the fabulous mansions belongs to singer Cliff Richard and he in turns lets former British Prime Minister Tony Blair use it.

The south coast of the island is perhaps the most popular for tourists and prices are mid range. Although Accra beach is the most touristy beach, it is also without doubt one of the best on the island. The half mile of white sand here never gets too crowded. During your stay be sure to eat the local flying fish and delicacies such as macaroni pie.
